Steve – I’m not using any RSS feed now but it sure doesn’t hurt to future proof the site. Thanks for the heads up.

WordPress Troubleshooting and Support: 11 years, 5 months ago
Hi all – Now I’m looking for what people consider the best calendar plugin, where the calendar is for use to create and post events. I’m current using “CGM Event Calendar”, which is very good. It allows me most of the functionality I need. The calendar is on it’s own page, each event is a […]

Hi all – My site is not public. I am currently using a plugin called “Member Access” to lock down all the pages so when someone goes to my site (e.g http://mysite.com) they get asked to log in *before* they can see *anything*. I found a few others – “Password Protect Plugin for WordPress” “Members […]

Thanks Joly I found Exploit Scanner yesterday and installed it but it gave me a lot of results that I didn’t have time to go through at work. After the refresh, I will install and run it – and then I’ll get a baseline for future runs. I have just installed Wordpress Firewall – although […]

Dr. Ron – Thanks for this link. It’s a good post. This sounds like it’s going to be done this weekend – not during the week. A couple of comments and questions if you have any answers. To make sure I understand… this article suggests the hacking is coming from within the Wordpress source files […]

Hi Steve –
I have not contacted them yet. Are you talking about contacting them about 1) my (embarrassingly) missing database password, 2) questions about the hacking, or 3) something completely different ??
Thanks,

Hi all – My site has been (and is still being) hacked. I am getting ads showing on the site in posts and links (so far) for drugs for impotence. (I won’t repeat here – I don’t want this post to be rejected. I’m trying to understand exactly how these posts get in there and, […]

Ed Altman posted on the forum topic Sidebar "extra bullet" after links in the group

Mystery solved. You’ll laugh (maybe). I certainly appreciate the help. The links widget has 4 options, one of which is “Show Link Description”. Unchecking that box removed the funny character. I happened upon it because I was setting up links on a test site and dragged the widget over to the sidebar and the options […]

@Steve – I haven’t made any changes that I can recall. I can’t give out the URL because it’s password protected at the request of the users. I’ve posted a screen capture of it at http://ealtman.com/page-with-extra-bullets.png @Margarete – Good suggestion – I moved the Links widget to all the other places but I still have the […]

I’ve set up one widget – “Links” – in the Primary widget area. No other widgets set up.
Thanks!

This is a very simple site using the theme twentyten. On the sidebar, I have one widget – Links. I have two categories “Links” and “This is your site”. There are 8 links under “Links” and 1 under “This is…”. After each link in both sections there is what looks like a bullet but copying […]
