Hello WPNYC – My client has a lot of links that end with .html……..he wants specific permalink text and structure. WordPress seems to automatically remove the dot and inserts a hyphen.
If he has links that end in .html will it still reach his site if wordpress changes it to hyphen html….?
would like this to be: http://test.avmhost.com/test-page.html/
SETTINGS > PERMALINKS
Add a custom permalink that ends in .html
Hi Steve – I added the below code to the custom permalink structure in a development site but it still changes the dot to a hyphen.
This is what I added: http://test.avmhost.com/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/%.html%/
Is this the way you would add a custom permalink….?
Steve – Found a plugin to accomplish this……Custom Permalinks ….incase anyone has this problem.
I really don’t think you need a plugin for this. I think your permalink was wrong. Should be http://test.avmhost.com /%year%/ %monthnum%/ %day%/ %postname.html
