    Any suggestions on plugin that collects lots of events/news from around the country and then allows my users to search for local events and then add them to their calendar.

    I also need to customize incoming database with information that is suitable for my audience.

    Ideally, I can stylize the “results” page so that it fits with my site. Has anyone tried outside.in (which i think includes Patch.com now) for this?

    You probably need to pull in the events via an RSS feed, and then use one of the auto blogging plugins to add them as Posts (or even better a Custom Post Type), so your users can search them.

    Take a look at Daylife.com as well. They have an API that may work for you.
