Hello. I am setting up my first WP site and I am not a coder. Currently, when a new user registers, WP goes to it’s own login page and the e-mail link also takes new users to the generic wp login page. I want them to be directed to my own login page. I’ve googled it and seen some things about throwing in code in places but I’m not comfortable doing that and don’t understand the discussions. Anyone can help? Much appreciated.
March 30, 2015 at 8:40 am #3121One or both of these plugins may help:
No idea if either plugin alters the email link. Try them and see what happens.
March 30, 2015 at 10:44 am #3122I installed the Custom Login URL and I had to manually put in new permalinks but I think I did it wrong and now I can’t get back into my site. every time I try to login a screen pops up and says “are you sure you want to log out” and there is no option to say no. I must have put in the wrong urls. Does anyone know how to fix this? I know I have to undo the changes I made to the urls but I can’t get back into my site.
March 30, 2015 at 11:19 am #3123Try going directly to “YourSiteName.com/wp-admin”
If that doesn’t work, FTP into your site and delete the Custom Login URL plugin.
Then login at /wp-login.php
March 30, 2015 at 11:26 am #3124Thanks! I got back in. You’re a life saver! The plug in lets you manually rewrite the urls and I must have put the wrong urls in. I’ll try again! Thanks for taking the time to answer.
March 30, 2015 at 11:52 am #3125I’ve tried both these plugins and tried different variations on writing custom urls and nothing is working. I know this must be a simple thing that everyone does because I’ve never been to a blog where I had login or register through the wp login page. If ayone has any suggestions I’m appreciative.
March 30, 2015 at 12:04 pm #3126Forget about WP for a moment.
Write out a description/list of what’s there on-site and what it is you want to happen.
1. when a visitor arrives at my homepage they see abc
2. I’d like this to happen when they do xyz
3. and so on
Decribe every step in detail using simple English, not WP functionality.
March 30, 2015 at 12:25 pm #3127First, I am using the bbpress login/register pages. I have it set up fine and it works but the caveat is that when someone registers as a new user, they get an e-mail with an assigned password and a link they have to click to login for the first time. The link currently takes them to a WP login page rather than the login page of my site and I want it to take them to my site’s login page. The same thing happens for a lost password function. I have the bbpress login widget in the sidebar and logging in/out if you’re already registered works fine. It’s anything that gets an e-mail link goes to WP.

Seek assistance at bbPress support forum.
March 31, 2015 at 9:24 am #3129I just ended up buying a premium plug in to handle all this because I can’t take it anymore. I had tried looking at the BBPress support forums but it all had to do with hard coding which I don’t understand and it would be erased with any updates anyway. Thanks for your time and I hope I didn’t make anyone mad by taking up support time!
