On August 17, 2010, we installed WordPress and BuddyPress LIVE at this Meetup, and created this site for the WordPressNYC community.
The site was running the default BuddyPress theme and needed a makeover.
Together with two community members, Krista Gonzalez and Rindy Portfolio, we present to you the new WPNYC.ORG!
This site is still in Beta, so please be gentle. Feel free to leave comments below if you have any comments or suggestions.

Great job on the theme design!
I love the retro style mosaic subway tiles for the headers, to go along with the subway-line letters – WPNYC!
What about the electric sign on in the header? We worked hard on that. 😉
Of course, the electric sign for the featured article in the header looks great also Steve. Overall the site looks fantastic. I am working on a couple of custom BuddyPress themes and can appreciate the extra work that goes into it; with all of the additional BP files. It’s nice to see custom themes that do not look like anything like the many common slight variations of bp-default.
No doubt about this. This is truly a NYC site and coming from a native, it a big complement.:)
Looks good, and am ready to go for tonight’s MeetUp!
