BackupBuddy from ithemes will backup to an FTP site. It is a premium (paid) plugin, but it works very well.

You can set it up under settings to require you to logon to the site

Can you share the domain? I have seen DNS get stuck for up to 72 hours. In addition, the company needs to flush the Dns cache on all of their domain controllers.

Obviously this is way too long.

I have been using Simple Facebook Connect and Simple Twitter Connect for a while now. They have worked well for me.

What browser are you using? I am not having issues with the latest version of Chrome.

That’s about right.

The profile page on a WordPress site with just bbPress installed out of the box, will have a much more limited profile page than a BuddyPress enabled WordPress blog.

I can tell you that the users are WordPress users. If you deactivate BuddyPress, the users will still exist.

I cannot confirm that if you deactivate BuddyPress, that bbPress will just work. I have never tried that.

bbPress does not need Buddypress.

However, users will need to register and login on the site (WordPress will handle this). This is done with wp-register.php

Right now you have registration disabled, that will need to be enabled to allow users to post in the forums.
