Help with settings Please! I was trying to follow instructions on migrating from MAMP to online. The first thing was to go into settings in local admin and change the URL from localhost to the real online URL. Did that. Then proceeded and everything went kaflooey. So migrating didn’t work. I’m ok with that.

I had thought you were looking for cross-fades but I failed to notice that you also wanted the “modal overlay” of a Lightbox/Colorbox/Shadowbox. I had been using WP-DB-Backup (Austin Matzko author) as my backup solution. On the WP site, it shows that it’s only good up to WP2.9.2 and I’m using WP3.0.1. I heard some say it still works. Should I be cautious about using it?also, has anyone used BackupBuddy? I’ve read pros and cons.

I have used BackupBuddy for a number of clients. Works well. You may want to also look at vaultpress.com (although that can get a bit pricey over time).

-Open up your db (phpMyAdmin)
-click on the appropriate db
-click on the wp_optons table
-Change two fields: SITEURL and HOME to http://localhost:8888/whatever
