Unknown users are registering as contributors daily? (3 posts)

    Hello Everyone,
    I am a web design student with a strong desire to become a successful WP developer. I have been running a small blog magazine journal and currently find myself with a rather odd issue.

    It seems as if every time I log in to the users area I see unknown users who are registering as contributors. I say its rather odd because I do not recognize who these users are nor have I granted them permission to become contributors.

    I wonder if this might be a spam issue and if so, how can I stop this from happening.

    Yes, it’s user-registration spam. Activate the Aksimet plugin and do the following:

    - Turn off user registrations: Settings >> General – Membership – un-check “Anyone can register” – Save Changes.

    Above is the easiest and most effective method.
